There are some beautiful gradations of colour in the background of this design and the blue of the hares is an inspired choice. Charlotte is fascinated by folklore and ancient alchemical motifs and describing the Three Hares she says "This one is based on a motif which is largely a mystery but possibly linked to pagan worship. It appears in artwork ranging from the Middle East to Devon. I decided to modernise the shapes of the hares and drop it onto a Somerset style laurel bush".
