In this design Kaffe wanted to convey the feeling of a Victorian dairy sign. He was fascinated by Dutch Friesian cows "Here is the boldest design in the animal kingdom - massive patches of black on creamy white" and he surrounds this pastoral scene with a mosaic border which was becoming another of his passions. An unusual combination that works brilliantly.
