All Seeing Eye

Designer Charlotte MacMillan

Charlotte designed this one with beginners in mind in easy to follow blocks of colour and a quirky enough image to appeal to younger stitchers. Eyes appear frequently in her embroidery. The All Seeing Eye or the Eye of Providence has a long history in Western art and has been a recurring feature of Christian iconography since the Renaissance. Today it is often associated with Freemasonry. It appears on the United States dollar bill and conveyed the stern message that the eye of God was watching over humanity.
